Steinbach sees potential in Lincoln

Another year, another rookie to catch. Tonight  Terry Steinbach will work with righthander Mike Lincoln, who will make his major league debut.

Will he have a nervous rookie on his hands? It's too early to tell, but Steinbach says catching Lincoln in spring training should help.

"You try to get an idea of what their body language is when they are successful and when they are not," Steinbach said.

Last season Steinbach caught lefthander Eric Milton and was impressed with his poise. Steinbach still is getting to know Lincoln, who is making the jump from Class AA New Britain. But he says the potential is there.

"He has a real good sinker and a good slider," Steinbach said. "He should get a lot of ground-ball [outs]."

Lincoln is pitching second in the rotation because the Twins didn't want to throw him and fellow rookie Benj Sampson back to back.
